Enerray and Sinapsi in the field for three “Benban” projects with a cumulative capacity of 116 MWp.

“Benban Solar Park” is under construction in Egypt: the largest solar photovoltaic park in the world visible from space. Enerray and Sinapsi in the field for three “Benban” projects with a cumulative capacity of 116 MWp.

Enerray, a subsidiary of Seci Energia and a member of the Maccaferri Industrial Group, has invested in the development of three photovoltaic plants forming part of the “Benban Solar Park”, for which it is also the EPC and O&M Contractor; Sinapsi has been commissioned to supply and commission the photovoltaic monitoring system for the three plants.

25 MWp project was developed by Winnergy for Renewable Energy Projects S.A.E., a joint venture company between Al Tawakol Electrical (Gila) S.A.E., Enerray S.p.A. and Desert Technologies Industries Co. Ltd. The second 25 MWp plant was developed by Arinna Solar Power S.A.E., a special purpose company of the joint venture between Al Bilal Group for General Contracts Limited, Enerray S.p.A., Desert Technologies Co. Ltd and Tech Project Development Group Incorporated. Finally, the largest project of 66 MWp, was developed by ARC for Renewable Energy S.A.E., a joint venture company between SECI Energia S.p.A., Enerray S.p.A. and Desert Technologies Industries Co. Ltd.

Sinapsi was responsible for supplying the photovoltaic monitoring system and all the field sensors present in the three plants. The supplied system will allow the visualization of all the data and alarms coming from the devices in the field, through a web server with “scada-oriented” synoptic for the management of the plant. It will also take care of on-site commissioning, for all commissioning activities, and the necessary dedicated assistance.

For the choice and selection of the components of the “Benban Solar Park” plants, the particular climatic conditions of the desert area have been studied in advance, opting for components with mechanical protection against possible dust infiltration.

Once completed, the solar park will have a total expected capacity of 1.8 Gwp and will be able to produce about 3.8 Twh of solar energy by mid-2019, enough to provide clean and cheap energy to more than 350,000 residents of the country.
